Not So Stagnant Strings: 2014
This project was a live brief where we told to go out into the local area around Bath and talk to manufactures, makers and artisans to re-interpret there method of making by turning it into a new way. The manufacturer I visited was C.S Manufacturing in Bristol who are polystyrene packing makers, it is a family run business run by 5 people. The machinery they use is very rustic and put together but it does the job but they all only cut on 1 axis. So my idea was to create a multi axis hotwire cutting machine that could cut objects on multiple dimensions. Allowing them to expand upon their methods of production.
The Images below will take you through the making and experimenting from start to finish.
